Army launches drone marketplace developed in partnership with Amazon

The Army on Tuesday launched an official online marketplace for drone procurement developed in partnership with Amazon Web Services, featuring comparison tools and streamlined ordering to accelerate acquisition for warfighters. The Unmanned Aircraft Systems Marketplace, which the service has been previewing since last year, is designed to lower barriers to entry for drone manufacturers and strengthen the defense industrial base. The digital storefront aligns with the Pentagon's broader "Drone Dominance" initiative launched by Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth and is expected to support Foreign Military Sales and international partnerships. Army acquisition executive Brent Ingraham called the platform a model for more agile procurement processes that will help equip the force and deter adversaries. The marketplace launch follows the Defense Department's separate rollout this month of a counter-drone technology marketplace to help the military acquire tools to defeat UAS threats.
